Punjab bans smoking in govt, private schools

The Punjab government has announced a ban on smoking and the use of tobacco-related products in all government and private schools across the province.

This move aims to discourage smoking among students and promote a healthier environment in educational institutions.

According to an official notification issued by the Punjab school education secretary, all district education authorities have been directed to implement this ban strictly. The notification explicitly prohibits the use of cigarettes, vapes, nicotine pouches, sheesha, and other intoxicants within school premises.

It says the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and tobacco use in educational institutions. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against schools found violating this directive.
